Early in the morning of October 1, flight CA1133 from Beijing to Yuncheng was brimming of joyful laughter and sincere wishes – there were bright national flags, sweet red wine, exquisite gifts and a sea of smiling faces. The “Zhaojun” cabin crew of Air China Inner Mongolia Branch held special celebrations with their passengers on the birthday of their motherland; this marked the initiation of their specially-designed “October Golden Week” service.
During the long vacation, from September 29 to October 5, the Inner Mongolia Branch strengthened its security services management and made meticulous preparations for the transportation of passengers, so as to offer a unique “October Golden Week” service. The “Zhaojun” cabin crew – recipient of the “Youth Civilized Units Award” held numerous celebrations on nine flights, including CA1112, CA1649. During Golden Week, the Branch operated more than 320 flights, transporting over 40,000 passengers.
The Branch continued to perfect its long-term mechanism of security management regulations adopted during the Olympics, implementing standardized management and achieving comprehensive successes in passenger service, mechanism, personnel, and flight operations. It nailed down a tight air security contingency plan, divided its labor force according to requirements, and carried out strict cabin clearing & inspection – fulfilling its passenger-counting processes – so as to ensure no foreign personnel and unknown items gained entry onto flights. What’s more, for the flights catering peak departure times, the Branch installed specially-appointed, extensively-experienced staff to take charge of security; and, taking into account the fact that passengers often carry excess luggage during vacation periods, they also appointed extra personnel to assist with the loading of luggage to prevent any incidents and injuries caused by falling luggage.
The Branch augmented its unique holiday services by introducing a special radio program. During the Golden Week, to create a warm “family” atmosphere, passengers were delivered intimate festival blessings, such as “Wish you a happy holiday” and “”Happy National Day” when boarding. In addition, “two S (smile and sincere)” services were carried out, and for CIP or VIP passengers, holiday greetings as well as blessings were delivered in earnest, and special attention was paid to first-time passengers, based on the airline’s original service procedure. The Air China flight crew introduced the service and facilities actively, and to face the challenge of increased demand for drinks, as a result of the increased numbers of tourist groups, they provided patient and attentive catering services. At the same time, as the passenger flow focused on the beginning as well as end of Golden Week and most of the tourists selected the popular tourism cities, the Hohhot business department added extra flights for specific routes in a timely manner; in particular, Hohhot – Beijing, Ordos – Beijing, Hohhot – Hailar routes.
From Oct. 1st to Oct. 3rd, the “Zhaojun” cabin crew held various in-flight activities with our motherland’s 59th birthday as the theme and under the lead of chief steward Guo Feng, the crew designed a number of flag stickers of various sizes, hand-held national flags and a unique flag-based background wall. Taking the respective characteristics of each route into consideration, the radio broadcasts added news about China’s 59th birthday and the recently-concluded Beijing Olympic Games, so as to create an exciting and enjoyable cabin atmosphere. The most interesting in-flight “lucky draw” activity was warmly welcomed with each lucky passenger receiving a gift from the cabin crew. Holding such gifts, Mr. Zhang, Flight CA1659 passenger, said excitedly: “This is my most memorable national holiday; these flight attendants are really creative!” The most special of the activities was the “birthday celebration”: the “Zhaojun” cabin crew searched among the passengers to find those born on the National Day. On October 1st, on flight CA1391 Yuncheng – Guangzhou, steward Dong Xiaoqing offered one passenger, Mr. Wang, who was born on the national day, a gift of red wine and her best wishes. Mr. Wang said happily,” I will never forget this birthday, and the creativity of your service; Air China really is a creditable brand.”
