Iberia Maintenance and Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace) today announced that Madrid Aerospace Services, joint venture company that provides repair and overhaul services of landing gear, has delivered its first overhauled landing gear. This A-320 landing gear belongs to Iberia Airlines and has undergone complete overhaul work including inspection, rework and replacement of parts. Madrid Aerospace Service has been approved by the Spanish Civil Aviation authority, Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA) and the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA).
Manuel López Aguilar, Executive Vice President of Iberia Maintenance, said: “we are pleased with the quick progress of Madrid Aerospace Service, set up in February 2008 and approved by the European Commission in June 2008. In about a year, Madrid Aerospace Service has set up its operations and processes, attained certification and successfully completely its first overhaul for an A-320 landing gear. With its first success, we are confident that Madrid Aerospace Service will continue to seek to assert itself as a landing gear MRO provider with value added services and reliability.”
According to Tay Kok Khiang, President of ST Aerospace, “Madrid Aerospace has performed well in completing its first landing gear overhaul within a very short time from launch of the company. This is reflection of the capabilities and focus of the management and staff of Madrid Aerospace Service as well as the support given by Iberia Airlines and ST Aerospace.”
Madrid Aerospace is a 50:50 joint venture company between Iberia Maintenance and ST Aerospace. Located near the Madrid-Barajas Airport, Madrid Aerospace Service operates as a repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider.
