Iberia won top honours in the first annual travel awards given by the prestigious magazine CondéNast Traveler , based on a survey of readers.

The prize was handed over on March 23 in a ceremony in Madrid’s Retiro Park. Iberia’s International Sale Manager, Silvia Cairó, accepted the award on behalf of Spain’s flag carrier.

In 2008 the magazine held its first annual survey of readers to pick winners in 15 categories: city hotel, non-city hotel, country, city, island, airline, train, cruise, car, technological innovation, cosmetic, fashion accessory and traveller of the year, the latter restricted to public figures.

CN Traveler is based in the United States and published a number of foreign-language editions, including a Spanish version launched in 2007.
