13 September 2008 // Cathay Pacific Airways has announced it will cancel its flight arrivals and departures between Hong Kong and Taipei with effect from 4 pm today (13 September) as the strong winds associated with the Typhoon Sinlaku are forecast to exceed operational limits in Taipei.
Seven Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong to Taipei – CX400, CX470, CX402, CX468, CX464, CX408 and CX462 – and one CX flight from Taipei to Hong Kong – CX401 – are cancelled today.
In addition, three Cathay Pacific flights today will fly direct to their destinations without stopping over Taipei. These are CX451 (Tokyo-Hong Kong), CX531 (Nagoya-Hong Kong) and CX510 (Hong Kong-Fukuoka).
On Sunday 14 September, six Cathay Pacific flights from Taipei to Hong Kong – CX465, CX407, CX471, CX403, CX469, CX463 – will also be cancelled
Passengers whose flights are cancelled are advised not to go the airport. Cathay Pacific is now working on alternative flight arrangements for those affected by today’s flights cancellation.
Travellers should note that the In-Town Check-In counters in the Hong Kong and Kowloon stations remains in operation today. The online Check-In facility for flights between Hong Kong and Taipei tomorrow (14 September) will be suspended.
