Salvador, on Brazil’s northeast coast, is known as Brazil’s “capital of happiness” because of its easygoing population and numerous outdoor parties. The city is also noted for its cuisine, music and architecture. Thirty-one miles of coastline add to the city’s compelling appeal.
Recife, also on the northeast coast, is often called the “Venice of Brazil” because of numerous waterways and bridges that cross the city. Nearby white-sand beaches and a vibrant culture add to the color of Recife, and two ports make the city a prime business center.
Belo Horizonte, in southeastern Brazil, is known for its quality of life and cultural activities. Surrounded by mountains, Belo Horizonte offers a contrasting mix of contemporary and classical architecture. The city is also a commercial and industrial center and home to one of the world’s largest soccer stadiums.
